Economic independence from the contractors consulted is, in our view, non-negotiable. An OR who receives back-commissions from consulted contractors is not a counsellor: it is a disguised salesperson.
Our compensation is contractually fixed with the principal, flat fee or percentage of construction cost, and depends in no way on which contractors are selected.
OR suits the principal who has the time and a degree of expertise, or who, on principle, wishes to retain every decision. DPM suits the one who wishes to delegate the entire execution while retaining strategic oversight.
